Xiaomi unveils ‘Air Charge Technology’ which will charge your smartphone from a distance

Global technology leader Xiaomi introduced a fresh sort of charging – Mi Air Charge Technology. Revolutionizing the present wireless charging methods, Mi Air Charge Technology enables users to remotely charge electronic devices with no cables or wireless charging stands. Today, we enter a real wireless charging era.

Mi Air Charge Technology – 5W remote charging

Xiaomi’s self-developed isolated charging pile has five phase interference antennas built-in, which may accurately detect the situation of the Smartphone.

Future living rooms are going to be fully wireless

In the near future, our front room devices, including speakers, desk lamps, and other small smart home products, will all be built upon a wireless power supply design, completely freed from wires, making our living rooms truly wireless.

  • This is a revolutionary innovation of wireless charging.
  • This is also a bold plan to turn the entire house wireless.
  • It’s not fantasy, it’s technology.
  • This is Xiaomi’s self-developed remote charging technology.

Unlike traditional wireless charging tech, which generally requires users to put their gadgets on a charging stand or pad, Mi Air Charge is actually wireless. It utilizes a foreign ‘charging pile’ which will detect the situation of your Smartphone and beam energy over thereto through nothingness.

Xiaomi said that this new charging technology also will be ready to work with smartwatches, bracelets and other wearable devices within the near feature. Soon front room devices, including speakers, desk lamps and other small smart home products, will all be built upon a wireless power supply design, completely freed from wires, making our living rooms truly wireless, consistent with Xiaomi. Hope we will see this remote charging technology in commercial devices soon.

How does it work?

Xiaomi has developed its own isolated charging pile, which comes with inbuilt five-phase interference antennas, which can help detect the smartphone at a distance. the entire setup uses 144 antennas which will transfer millimeter-wide waves via beamforming.

For the uninitiated, beamforming may be a process that concentrates wireless signals onto a specific device rather than letting the signals scatter altogether directions.

Xiaomi has suggested that ‘even physical obstacles don’t reduce the charging efficiency.’ The new Mi Air Charge wireless charging tech will soon work with other smart devices like smartwatches, wearables, smart speakers, and more smart home devices.

However, we don’t have a word on when precisely the technology commercializes and be available for us to finally use and see how it works.

The Xiaomi Mi Air Charge tech seems pretty interesting considering we are beaten for the ‘truly wireless’ experience. The tech further reduces our dependency on cables and wires and involves a near-future without much hassle.

Having said that, we don’t skills feasible the thought is for (a) we’d like to make sure it’s efficient enough to detect the closest smartphone and charge it, and (b) we’d like to ascertain if the charging time and therefore the heat production isn’t tons, as long as the facility output is sort of low.

There’s a lot of jargon, but essentially it’ll charge compatible devices as long as they’re within a radius of a couple of meters.

As always, there is a catch with this stuff, and while Xiaomi has been quite happy to wax lyrical about its latest industrial revolution, the corporate has been less forthcoming with a launch date, so you will not find it on the Xiaomi Mi 11 as an example.

Right now, we do not know when – or indeed if – Mi Air Charge are going to be unrolled to consumers. It’s likely there’s still a touch of fine-tuning to try to behind the scenes, but Xiaomi’s proclamation that “today, we enter a real wireless charging era” implies the corporate is confident it’ll become a viable reality eventually.
